early learning centers for churches

Faithful use of every square foot.

Your building already has classrooms, restrooms, parking, and a playground. Monday through Friday, most of it sits quiet. Church Based helps congregations open a professionally run early learning center in the space they already steward.

Does this sound familiar?

Many churches carry the same quiet question: how do we make our building serve the community the other six days of the week?

  • Our classrooms and fellowship hall sit empty most of the week.
  • Young families are moving into our neighborhood, but we rarely see them on our campus.
  • Parents around us are on waitlists for quality childcare.
  • The cost of caring for our building keeps rising.
  • We've talked about starting a preschool — but licensing, staffing, and operations feel like a lot to take on alone.

An early learning center is outreach that opens its doors every weekday morning — serving young families, meeting a real need in your community, and giving your building a fuller life.

You already own the space. That is the single largest cost most childcare centers carry — and the reason churches are uniquely placed to do this well.

How it works

You lead the ministry. We bring the operating system behind it — a proven path from empty classroom to licensed, staffed, enrolled center.

  1. 1

    Conversation & walkthrough

We meet with your leadership, listen to your vision, and walk your building together.

  2. 2

    Feasibility & licensing path

We assess your space against Texas childcare standards and local codes, and map a clear route to licensing.

  3. 3

    Preparation & staffing

Room planning, director hiring, teacher training, curriculum, and family enrollment — step by step.

  4. 4

    Opening & ongoing support

Doors open with systems already in place, and we stay alongside you as the center grows.

What we bring to your church

Running a childcare center is a profession. You shouldn't have to invent one from scratch.

Licensing & compliance

A guided path through state childcare licensing, inspections, and local building and fire codes.

Facility planning

Room-by-room layouts by age group, outdoor space guidance, and a clear picture of what your building needs.

Leadership & staff

Help hiring a qualified director, plus training and standards for every teacher in the building.

Curriculum & daily operations

Age-appropriate learning, daily routines, family communication, and the systems that keep it all running.

Enrollment & family outreach

Reaching the young families around you and welcoming them onto your campus.

A partner for the long run

Ongoing support so your center stays healthy long after opening day.

The pilot program

We're inviting a small number of churches to walk this road with us first.

Pilot churches receive close, hands-on attention and help shape how Church Based serves congregations for years to come. Space is limited by design — we would rather do a few centers exceptionally well.

A strong pilot church usually has

  • Weekly attendance of roughly 200–600
  • Classroom or education space that's mostly unused on weekdays
  • A growing community with young families nearby
  • Pastoral and lay leadership open to a new ministry

Not a perfect match? Apply anyway — every building and congregation is different.

Common questions

Does our church need childcare experience?

No. That's what we bring. Your church provides the space, the leadership, and the heart for your community; we provide the systems, training, and guidance to run a professional center.

Will our building qualify?

Many church buildings are closer than leaders expect, since they already have classrooms, restrooms, and outdoor space. A walkthrough is the best way to find out, and it's one of the first things we do together.

What about state licensing?

Centers are licensed through Texas Health and Human Services. We guide you through the requirements for space, staffing, and safety, and through the inspection process.

Can the center reflect our church's faith and values?

Yes. The center is an extension of your church's ministry to families, and we work with your leadership on how that shows up day to day.

What does it cost?

Every church and building is different, so we start with a conversation rather than a price sheet. Full program details will be available in early 2027.

Does applying commit us to anything?

No. Applying simply starts a conversation. We'll learn about your church, you'll learn about us, and together we'll see whether it's a good fit.
